  • Travel Wyoming: My First Rodeo

Experiencing the West for the First Time

Wyoming’s rodeos are more than events, they’re a gateway into the state’s culture and community. My First Rodeo captured the excitement, nerves, and joy of seeing that world up close for the first time.

    The Challenge

Wyoming’s Office of Tourism needed to highlight the state’s local rodeos, not just the famous ones, and show visitors that Western culture is something anyone can experience, not just watch.

My First Rodeo captured the emotion of first discovery, making Western culture feel open, human, and accessible.

    Approach

    1. Turning a Saying into a Story

We flipped the familiar phrase “Not my first rodeo” on its head, following real locals, visitors, and international guests as they visited their first rodeo.

    2. Real Reactions, Real Emotion

Genuine reactions helped unfamiliar audiences see themselves in the experience.

    3. A Statewide Showcase

Filmed in seven towns across Wyoming, My First Rodeo highlighted the state’s deep rodeo culture and its local communities, giving travelers new reasons to stop, explore, and stay.

    The Impact

The series resonated nationally, bringing fresh attention to Wyoming’s rodeo scene and small towns. Engagement soared, and the stories sparked pride across the state’s communities.

Authentic, emotional, and undeniably Wyoming, My First Rodeo proved that the best tourism stories aren’t performed, they’re lived.
